Carter was raised in Newport News, and graduated from Fork Union Military Academy. He earned a full Athletic Scholarship to Virginia Tech, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Property Management. During his college years, he was a four year letterman, varsity football, and after graduation, he began football career with the Cincinnati Bengals.
During his property management career, he interned with Palmetto Commercial Properties, Charleston SC. He has worked in residential property management with United Dominion Realty, and joined the Brooks Real Estate team in 2009.
